The SIU Youth Violence Prevention Research Laboratory is broadly focused on projects designed to assess the experience of trauma, aggression, bullying and peer conflict among children and adolescents, and the effectiveness of community, school, and therapeutic interventions. We have conducted studies specifically evaluating juvenile mentoring, court diversion, and bullying prevention training programs. We work with a variety of community partners, including local/regional school districts, law enforcement and probation offices. Our primary objective is to contribute to research and clinical practice designed to enhance the safety and well-being of youth in Southern Illinois and across the Tri-State region.
